We (American School of Madrid) have begun a discussion of homework. Sounds simple but it reaches into feedback, grading, integrity, meaningful assignments and assessments, use of class time, and other topics you highlight here. This is my first year as head of school and taking the community through the discussion has the potential to open many doors and raise the questions necessary to challenge long cherished beliefs and assumption. Ironic that that multi-age program and collaboration back in the small rural school in Maine where I started was so advanced.
