Water from the same well
We know the stories;
A chain of events set in motion,
A box once opened,
Ancient forces awakened,
Strange and troubling news from afar,
The unheeded warning.
And, meanwhile, consumed with the day-to-day
the day-by-day,
who looks beyond their twelve o’clock?
Another issue? I’ve got a folder.
The crisis is what matters now.
The future, well, hasn’t it always taken care of itself….
?
And so we go along.
Later, the audience will shift uneasily,
so clear to them,
then,
the chances missed,
how close we came,
to almost,
maybe.
Because, in the end,
it is, after all,
all water from the same well.
