This made me think of Martin Luther King's bootstrap remarks in an interview in 1967. We do not see what we are given, our benefits and privilege. We feel we earned them. By the same token we are blind to what others struggle against, endure, we do not understand the bootless state nor the cruel irony of talking bootstraps to a man without boots.
