This is the heart of the matter, in more ways than one. A shared resource or a commons requires a totally different mindset, habits, and expectations. despite all the lessons in early childhood about sharing, the big lesson is about ownership and personal property. We have all heard kids say it, heard it from our own mouths as well, "That's mine, you can't have it!" From guns to big cars, the expectation is that if you pay for it you can have it. The problem is the real cost has never been paid and now the bill is coming due.
