The idea of exponential growth goes hand in hand with unlimited resources. The issue I have with the concept is that it has led us to see unlimited resources in places where that was not the case. The scientists who proclaimed the unlimited stocks of fish in the sea, it is big but we know very well it is not unlimited. The capacity of the world to absorb our waste is tremendous, but it is not unlimited. Perhaps we will escape the surly bounds and reach a perspective and point of leverage where the resources are unlimited, but I see the brute trauma we are willing to inflict on one another in the pursuit of basic resources which are proving all too limited.
