Thank you TeriJo. I grew up seeing them row across in the dory for groceries. Saw them sometimes in the store. He was tall, well over six feet and she was just a little slip of a woman. He made her oars special to fit her. Once I saw him getting a package of Pepperidge Farm cookies off the shelf. She gave him a look and he set them back. Not a word. Just that look. It was a three mile row across open water with the tide and wind making all kinds of slop and then the dory to winch up and the boxes to haul up to the house. The cookies would have been a welcome treat. I never met them until that day.
