Reading this in April, several months after you wrote it provides an interesting perspective on things have begun to shift. The climate strikes by young people around the world are creating both new connections and a new way of talking about our situation. Being future oriented, taking action for the future, are phrases and positions that have become more visible and heard. Momentum and inertia are enormous forces, it is easy to paint them as deliberate evil doers and in some cases misinformation and pursuit of short term game have been perpetrated as theft against the future, or certainly borrowing against it. But there is also the combined weight of our individual actions, habits, patterns of living, working and being times billions that is the foundation for the system. It is easy to talk of they and both less comfortable and harder to talk of us. It is easy to talk about what they should do and identify problems of/in/for the future — harder by far to take the action now that will allow a different future to become possible.

Keep writing. Words matter. Language makes action possible and then inevitable and finally real.
