I graduated high school in 1976 from the only integrated district in St Louis. There is so much history we were never taught. I learned who said Nuts to the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge but I never heard a word about the Great Migration. History is complex and only sometimes rises to grandeur. Kids need to hear and learn from the many voices and circumstances that make up history. By the way, Dr. King's bootstrap interview with Chris Wallace is a great example of a current story and history merging, it is as relevant today as it was then.
