I am not a hold back clapper. I believe in showing appreciation. I give lots of 50 claps. I also give weird numbers — 27, 32, …. Just to mix it up. i never give a single clap. That is like a limp handshake to me.

I have only gotten 1000 claps once and as far as I am concerned it wasn’t my best or even that good a post. it just happened to be my “pinned” or featured pieces and it took my an ungodly amount of time to discover I could change it.

I am sad that appreciation is so hard for people to express. I am sad people go out and do “pay for claps” . if it was real people in the clap worker class and they got something out of it, like a contact high or something then fine, but it is bots and that is so sad that the height of our ability is to create machines that will express appreciation for us to help us stand out. I guess in the old days it was the leaflet passers, and the campaign workers in politics, but for writers to sink to this level
